Why it is now time to tell the French to go to hell and take their buddy Saddam with them.
What the French are asking to do with the much delayed and much watered down UN Security Council resolution would equate pretty much to a capitulation to Saddam and to the French companies which have so much to loose if Saddam is sent packing. It is time for Colin Powell to stop pretending, stop dealing and stop procrastinating. It is time for the US, the UK and all countries with any sense of human decency and pity for the Iraqi people to go to Baghdad and finish this regime, its savage ruler and accomplices once and for all. I hope that Bush is simply too busy with the election right now and that come Wednesday next week, he will grab this file back from the Secretary of State and get on with it. As Charles Krauthammer says, this is no time to go wobbly.
...and if you thought the article below dealing with animal slaughter wasn't bad enough, read this one about the depths of Saddam's cruelty and barbarism to the people of Iraq.
The horrors committed by Saddam daily are so revolting that I won't even post excerpts of what Jeff Jacoby has uncovered. I had tears just reading this stuff.
The world should hold the EU and the French in particular responsible for delaying the liberation of the Iraqi people from the savagery and ruthlessness of Saddam. Why are the Robert Fisks of this world, the Maude Barlow, the Susan Sonntags trying to preserve such a regime by hiding behind the pretenses of respecting the sovereignty of such a country and such a regime? Would their positions change if they had witnessed the torture and death of their own child? Does the fact that they tacitly protect Saddam and his regime make them guilty of aiding and abetting the crimes that Saddam commits daily? Who will bring them to account once Saddam is gone and the truth about the brutality of this regime becomes obvious? Will they be allowed to simply say "we didn't know" just like the Germans claimed they didn't know what was going on during the Holocaust or like the left claimed that they were not aware of what was happening in Cambodia under Pol Pot? Who will finally make the case that the left, far from defending the little guy, in fact systematically have supported and still support the worst kind of dictators, assassins and murderers such as Stalin, Idi Amin, Arafat, Pol Pot, Castro, Saddam, Yassin, the Ayatollahs and more. Their moral bankruptcy and their ability for deep denial when facing objective facts is beyond comprehension.
Adding to the debate on Kosher slaughtering now illegal in 6 European countries.
This scientific report (not for the faint-hearted) compares the various slaughtering methods and assesses the actual amount of suffering that the animals are put through when being slaughtered. Some of its recommendations:
One can definitely conclude that improperly applied stunning methods would be much more stressful than kosher slaughter with the long straight razor sharp knife. Kilgour (1978), one of the pioneers in animal welfare research, came to a similar conclusion on stunning and slaughter .
Halal (Muslim) slaughter performed with a knife that is too short causes definite distress and struggling in cattle. We recommend to those Muslim religious authorities who require slaughter without stunning that they require that the knife must be razor sharp with a straight blade that is at least twice the width of the neck. Unless the animals are stunned, the use of curved skinning knives is not acceptable. Due to the fact that Muslim slaughtermen do not usually receive as extensive special training in slaughter techniques as Jewish Shochtim, preslaughter stunning is strongly recommended.

I rest my case. The Dutch are definitely smoking some of the stuff they just legalized.

Talk about "dynamic duo": Sharon is expected to offer Benjamin Netanyahu the Foreign Minister's job.
I am guessing that face to face negotiations with Arafat are not going to happen anytime soon if Bibi takes the job. At his last appearance in Toronto, Netanyahu made it abundantly clear that Arafat belongs in one of 2 places: exile or jail. It will be interesting to see whether Sharon can muster enough support within the Knesset without having to call an early election. If he can do that, Labor will most likely be kicking itself for having so massively misread the political situation and for having given up power with no appreciable benefit in return. Hey, after being outmaneuvered by Arafat, Peres and Labor appear to have been outmaneuvered by Sharon as well.
Better late than never, I suppose; Human Rights Watch: Suicide bombers guilty of war crimes
Well. it only took more than 100 Palestinian mass murder operations (from a total of over 14,000 terror operations) for someone to finally clue in that targeting innocent civilians is bad, even if these civilians are Jews, and even if almost the entire world is bowing at the feet of a Nobel-prize winning monster. Surprise, surprise: suicide bombers are war criminals and those who encourage, organize, finance and condone these crimes are also guilty of crimes against humanity.
This report actually names Hamas, Islamic Jihad (redundant?), the Al Aqsa Brigades and the FPLP as organizations which are guilty of such crimes. And still, the Canadian government has yet to name any of these as terrorist organizations (which means that they are still able to freely raise money in Canada as long as they claim the money is for humanitarian purposes....wooooaaaahahahahhh!!!! Good one!). But I digress.
The report also confirms (another BIG surprise) that the PA and Arafat had and have the authority and means to do more to stop these operations but have deliberately decided not to. The report also says that Hamas' Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and Khalid Mish'al and Islamic Jihad's Ramadan Shalah must face criminal investigation for their roles in such crimes. No kidding! Palestinian "leaders" (which simply are guys that are more ruthless than others and have killed and maimed their way to the top) have already dismissed the report by claiming that there are no such things as suicide bombers, but rather that the mass murderers are martyrs. Nothing to see here people, please move along:
"This report is neglecting all the Arab Muslim scholars (another good one!) who are not recognizing these operations as a suicide. [It] is accepting the [terminology of] Israel, describing such operation as suicide operation," said Mahmoud El Zahar. "This operation is not suicide, these are martyrs." Simply put, the over 650 Israelis who have died have been the victims of semantics, not violence. How convenient.
This may be a fabulous opportunity for the newly formed International Court of Criminal Justice to show whether it truly is an independent court or just another UN-like massive boondoggle. Let's watch.

Here is why UNICEF (and any other UN organization by the same token) never gets any money from me.
Once again, a UN organization has fallen victim to the anti-semitic Arab lobby and has now turned what should be a simple mandate to support and help children into another forum to spew out lies, propaganda and exaggerations.
"Some of UNICEF's funding is being spent promoting anti-Israel propaganda.
In recent days, Pierre Poupard, the UNICEF Special Representative to the Palestinian Authority, issued a scathing memo in which he accused Israel of preventing 226,000 Palestinian Arab children from going to school".
Of course, the report fails to mention that it is the PA which routinely closes schools so it can send children as front line cannon fodder in their fascist war. Of course, the report does not mention that curfews are not imposed by Israel as punishment but rather as the only way to keep Palestinian mass murderers from striking. Of course, the report fails to mention the fact that children from kindergarten on are being taught to be suicide bombers and assassins. And, as always, just like Durban, just like electing Syria to the UN Security Council, just like electing Gaddafi as Chairman of the Human Rights Commission, the UN shows the depth of its moral bankruptcy.
Imagine that: Chechen Terrorists to be Buried in Pigskin. And so many "virgins" will simply have to wait.
According to the Moskovski Komsomol newspaper, Russian security forces have decided to bury the terrorists from last's week's hostage siege wrapped in pig's skin. The aim is to deter potential Islamic terrorists from future attacks.
Shahidi (Jihad martyrs) believe by their nefarious acts that they ascend immediately to heaven. Using their beliefs against them, wrapping their corpses in 'unclean' pigskin prevents them from entering heaven for eternity.
Can you imagine what the world would say if Israel did that? Actually, I think it is a hell of a good idea, and I hope Israel does do that. Maybe the Palestinian mass murderers would think twice.
Double standard from the Canadian Supreme Court (CSC)
The CSC decided today to strike down the law that prevented inmates in federal penitentiary from voting in federal elections, claiming that "The wholesale disenfranchisement of all penitentiary inmates, even with a two-year minimum requirement, is not demonstrably justified in our free and democratic society,". This is the same court which ruled that it is OK for the Ontario Government to discriminate against non-Roman Catholics by funding only Roman-Catholic separate schools and refusing to fund Jewish, Muslim and Protestant schools as well (Ontario is the only jurisdiction in the entire Western world to have such an apartheid policy when it comes to separate school funding). In that case, the CSC claimed that "discrimination was justified".
So, according to these beacons of human rights and dignity, it is not OK to discriminate against convicted criminals by taking away their civic right to vote, but it is OK to discriminate against non-Roman Catholics simply because they are, well..., not Roman-Catholic. One has to wonder if the result of the court challenge to the CSC about separate school funding would have been different had the defendant (Mr. Adler) had not been Jewish.
Nah...I am sure this had nothing to do with it, of course.
According to CSIS (Canada's world-class equivalent to the CIA), and as reported in the National Post, Hezbollah uses Canada as base.
And frankly, I am not sure why this is newsworthy given that the Canadian Federal government has consistently refused to classify Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.

Holland bans kosher slaughter!!!
....and they're the sixth European country to do so! Hmm.....is it just me or does anyone else think that by making it impossible for Jews to eat in Europe, the governments are ensuring that no more Jews can ever live......naaahhh...couldn't be!

Here's the original report from Israel's National News:

The government of Holland has banned kosher slaughter, becoming the sixth
European country to do so. The local Agriculture Ministry informed Jewish
community leaders there that they would no longer be permitted to slaughter
cows in a kosher manner [shechitah] because of its "cruelty" to the animals.
Deputy Foreign Minister Rabbi Michael Melchior, the former Chief Rabbi of
Norway, says he is not convinced that concern for the animals is the real
motivation behind the new regulation: "They simply don't want foreigners and
they don't want Jews. I won't say that this is the only motivation, but it's
certainly no coincidence that one of the first things Nazi Germany forbade
was kosher slaughter. I also know that during the original debate on this
issue in Norway, where shechitah has been banned since 1930, one of the
parliamentarians said straight out, 'if they don't like it, let them go live
somewhere else.'"

Melchior also says the cruelty accusations against shechitah are simply untrue:
"The Torah forbids cruelty to animals, and the shechitah process ensures that
the animal loses consciousness immediately. We have been dealing with this
issue for many years, and there are many scientific studies that back us up."

Another "brave" attack by a Palestinian murderer leaves 2 teenage girls and a woman dead.
The terrorist was then killed by Israeli troops. The Al-Aqsa SS brigade claimed responsibility for this despicable act. And these fascists really believe that the "martyr" will be rewarded by Allah with 72 virgins? For killing 3 unarmed, innocent women? No fricking way. The only reward should be the destruction of his family's home and their permanent banishment from the area. I hear Baghdad has a few apartment vacancies right now.
Official: Ben Eliezer (Israel's Defense Minister) has resigned.
Many Israelis, who considered him a traitor, must be rejoicing at this point. I would suspect that Peres' resignation cannot be far behind. Let's watch as this soap opera (Israeli style) unfolds.
Israeli Government Coalition about to fall apart. Israelis will finally rid themselves of the last few supporters of the Oslo fiasco.
Labor is about to be kicked out of the Israeli coalition government after it refused to compromise on the proposed budget for 2003. Sharon has made it clear that anyone not supporting the budget will be out of cabinet.
So what now? Will the government fall? Maybe, maybe not as smaller parties not part of the coalition today could vote in favor of the budget and therefore allow Sharon to get more than the 61 votes he needs to survive a motion of non-confidence. But more likely, even if this hurdle is overcome, Sharon will call an election. Labor will probably be seriously defeated but the rivalry between Sharon and Netanyahu may be very divisive for Likud. I think that the election might come about too early for Netanyahu to be a serious contender. Depending on the level of renewed violence by Palestinians (who will most likely try to exploit this uncertain political situation by killing as many Israelis as they can), Israelis may rally behind Sharon (who has developed a very close relationship with Bush) or elect Netanyahu if the situation really escalates as he is seen as much more hawkish than Sharon. If Netanyahu is elected, I suspect that Arafat would be exiled within a week. And I expect him to end up in France where his wife and child already are enjoying the easy life that the EU money to the PA affords them.

FedEx truck explodes near St. Louis.
Profilers are vindicated this time. The truck is white and was alone.
Of course, authorities deny that a bomb was involved and claim that the truck swerved and that a fuel line broke and ignited the trailer.
Note to authorities: there are no fuel lines in a trailer. They are in the cab, where the engine is usually located. Other note to authorities: unless diesel fuel is heated, it does not ignite. That is how diesel engines work.
Incredibly and without having performed any forensic tests whatsoever, authorities have already shelved the possibility of this being a terrorist attack, just as they are still denying that the July 4th attack on the LAX El AL counter was a terrorist attack. As someone once said, "denial is not just a river in Africa".
About time somebody in merry old England spoke up.

ARTICLE FROM UNITED KINGDOM-DAILY MIRROR Just a word of background, for those of you who aren't familiar with the UK's Daily Mirror. This is a notorious left-wing, anti-American daily in the UK. I had to read this article three times and I still don't believe the Mirror published it.

SHAME ON YOU AMERICAN-HATING LIBERALS - Tony Parsons - Daily Mirror - September 11, 2002.

ONE year ago, the world witnessed a unique kind of broadcasting - the mass murder of thousands, live on television. As a lesson in the pitiless cruelty of the human race, September 11 was up there with Pol Pot's mountain of skulls in Cambodia, or the skeletal bodies stacked like garbage in the Nazi concentration camps. An unspeakable act so cruel, so calculated and so utterly merciless that surely the world could agree on one thing - nobody deserves this fate. Surely there could be consensus: the victims were truly innocent, the perpetrators truly evil.
But to the world's eternal shame, 9/11 is increasingly seen as America's comeuppance. Incredibly, anti-Americanism has increased over the last year.
There has always been a simmering resentment to the USA in this country - too loud, too rich, too full of themselves and so much happier than Europeans - but it has become an epidemic. And it seems incredible to me. More than that, it turns my stomach.
America is this country's greatest friend and our staunchest ally. We are bonded to the US by culture, language and blood. A little over half a century ago, around half a million Americans died for our freedoms, as well as their own. Have we forgotten so soon? And exactly a year ago, thousands of ordinary men, women and children - not just Americans, but from dozens of countries - were butchered by a small group of religious fanatics. Are we so quick to betray them? What touched the heart about those who died in the twin towers and on the planes was that we recognised them. Young fathers and mothers, somebody's son and somebody's daughter, husbands and wives. And children. Some unborn. And these people brought it on themselves? And their nation is to blame for their meticulously planned slaughter?
These days you don't have to be some dust-encrusted nut job in Kabul or Karachi or Finsbury Park to see America as the Great Satan. The anti-American alliance is made up of self-loathing liberals who blame the Americans for every ill in the Third World, and conservatives suffering from power-envy, bitter that the world's only superpower can do what it likes without having to ask permission. The truth is that America has behaved with enormous restraint since September 11. Remember, remember.
Remember the gut-wrenching tapes of weeping men phoning their wives to say, "I love you," before they were burned alive. Remember those people leaping to their deaths from the top of burning skyscrapers. Remember the hundreds of firemen buried alive. Remember the smiling face of that beautiful little girl who was on one of the planes with her mum. Remember, remember - and realise that America has never retaliated for 9/11 in anything like the way it could have. So a few al-Qaeda tourists got locked without a trial in Camp X-ray? Pass the Kleenex. So some Afghan wedding receptions were shot up after they merrily fired their semi-automatics in a sky full of American planes? A shame, but maybe next time they should stick to confetti.
AMERICA could have turned a large chunk of the world into a parking lot. That it didn't is a sign of strength. American voices are already being raised against attacking Iraq - that's what a democracy is for. How many in the Islamic world will have a minute's silence for the slaughtered innocents of 9/11? How many Islamic leaders will have the guts to say that the mass murder of 9/11 was an abomination? When the news of 9/11 broke on the West Bank, those freedom-loving Palestinians were dancing in the street. America watched all of that - and didn't push the button. We should thank the stars that America is the most powerful nation in the world. I still find it incredible that 9/11 did not provoke all-out war. Not a "war on terrorism". A real war.
The fundamentalist dudes are talking about "opening the gates of hell", if America attacks Iraq. Well, America could have opened the gates of hell like you wouldn't believe. The US is the most militarily powerful nation that ever strode the face of the earth. The campaign in Afghanistan may have been less than perfect and the planned war on Iraq may be misconceived. But don't blame America for not bringing peace and light to these wretched countries. How many democracies are there in the Middle East, or in the Muslim world? You can count them on the fingers of one hand - assuming you haven't had any chopped off for minor shoplifting.
I love America, yet America is hated. I guess that makes me Bush's poodle. But I would rather be a dog in New York City than a Prince in Riyadh. Above all, America is hated because it is what every country wants to be - rich, free, strong, open, optimistic. Not ground down by the past, or religion, or some caste system. America is the best friend this country ever had and we should start remembering that. Or do you really think the USA is the root of all evil? Tell it to the loved ones of the men and women who leaped to their death from the burning towers. Tell it to the nursing mothers whose husbands died on one of the hijacked planes, or were ripped apart in a collapsing skyscraper. And tell it to the hundreds of young widows whose husbands worked for the New York Fire Department. To our shame, George Bush gets a worse press than Saddam Hussein.
Once we were told that Saddam gassed the Kurds, tortured his own people and set up rape-camps in Kuwait. Now we are told he likes Quality Street. Save me the orange centre, oh mighty one! Remember, remember, September 11. One of the greatest atrocities in human history was committed against America. No, do more than remember. Never forget.

US Diplomat assassinated in Amman (Jordan): The White House is NOT ruling out terrorism.
You know what, I have to admit, the possibility that this could have been terrorism did not even cross my mind. Hmmm.
The other hypotheses that I have been toying with and that the White house will most likely be investigating as well are:
1. he tripped (and his own gun fired 7 times into his head and abdomen);
2. he walked into the path of stray bullets which were not intended for him (talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time);
3. a lonely white male did it (the starting point for any sniper investigation, it seems);
4. a random killing by trigger happy over-exuberant youths.
Of course, terrorism is the last thing you'd expect when an American diplomat is killed in an Arab country, even after just about every Islamic extremist organization has vowed to kill Americans.
This is the same kind of political correctness running amok which refused to classify the killings at the LAX El AL counter as terrorism (even though the man was a Muslim, was an Al Qaida sympathizer and had expressed his joy following 9/11. This is also the same PC which meant that the Washington sniper had to be a white male (probably a Christian fundamentalist from the Ozarks), in a white van, with no connection to known terrorist organizations. And the reports that the sniper was "dark skinned" of course were discounted as unreliable.
So it will probably be a while until the search for a white male in Amman comes to an end and the investigation can turn to looking for someone who has the name "Mohammed" somewhere in his name and is linked to Al Qaida (as already reported by Debka Files). By that time, we will have moved onto the next exercise in denial.
Want to know why Harry Belafonte is definitely off my Xmas/Chanukah list? He is a racist.
Great op-ed piece by Andrew Sullivan about Harry Belafonte. Andrew asks a very simple question. If a white man had made the same comments about Colin Powell and Condi Rice, would he have been invited by Larry King? My answer: Nope. He would have been (rightfully) ridiculed and tossed onto the heap of all the preceding racists. But because Belafonte is black, not only does he get away with it but he is actually elevated to the status of hero by the left. Not surprising mind you. These coneheads truly believe that only whites (males especially of course) can be racists. Belafonte proves them dead wrong!
Oriana Fallaci, an Italian journalist turned author, is being sued in France for saying in her book The Rage and The Pride what many are too afraid to say (because there are over 6 million Muslims in France, over 20 million in Western Europe alone).
Some of her comments would definitely raise a lot of PC eyebrows:
For instance, Ms. Fallaci thinks (and explains why) Islam and the West are not "two realities of equal value" -- namely, that the achievements of the West dwarf those of Islam, and the Western system is freer and fairer than anything based on Islamic law.
"You don't understand, you don't want to understand, that for those Reverse Crusaders, the West is a world to conquer and subjugate to Islam."
Ouch! And I can see why Muslims would be upset now that someone is finally calling a spade a spade. Someone is finally writing that all the Muslim extremist violence around the world (WTC, Israel, Bali, French Tanker, US envoy in Jordan, Washington Sniper, Moscow theater, etc...) are all part of one grand scheme: Jihad. These are the first shots in a war of civilizations. A war which pits Western society and its principles of democracy, multi-culturalism and respect for the individual against the darkness of medieval dumbing of the masses, subjugation of the individual to the power of theocracy and thugocracy and the relegation of women to a status barely above that of trained seals.
I know where my lifestyle choice is. Yours?

Why are some American Corporations such as Pepsi, Proctor and Gamble and Western Union advertising on Hezbollah television?

A very disturbing article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution depicts how some household American brands effectively support Hezbollah by advertising on the Al Manar channel. Some of the recent pronouncements of key people from this channel follow:
"There is no act of resistance that can be classified as terrorism."
"America will fall just like the Romans and the British. While it now controls the world, this will change. We cannot accept American domination and American terrorist actions."
Read the article. It contains a number of shocking revelations. I think that these corporations should be shamed in public and, if they fail to act, should be boycotted flat out. And I think that there is a good case to make against them that they are actually violating the rules around supporting organizations which have been declared as terrorist organizations by the State Department.
Another week end in Israel. Another suicide bomber massacres 3 Israelis. Another cabinet crisis looms over the budget.
A member of Arafat's personal terrorist organization, the Al Aqsa Brigades (a.k.a. Palestinian SS) has killed 3 Israelis yesterday in the West Bank. Of course, we are waiting with baited breath for Erakat and Arafat to declare that they are against all violence against civilians, whether Palestinians or Israelis. Then, we expect them to go back to their normal activity, i.e. planning more violence against Israelis, recruiting more suicide bombers and finding new and innovative way to funnel EU and UN money and resources towards more bombing and a systematic sabotage of any effort towards peace.
Note that while the UN Security Council unanimously condemned the hostage taking operation in Moscow within 24 hours of it taking place, the UN has yet to specifically condemn any suicide bombing operation, including the most brutal ones such as the one which killed 14 Israelis in a bus last week, most of whom died burnt alive in the bus. In UN lingo, obviously the only good Jew is a dead Jew.
Finally., let's hope that the Labor party finally makes good on its threat to leave the government over the latest budget crisis in Israel. It has taken far too long to get rid of Peres and Ben Eliezer who have done so much damage to Israel by constantly sabotaging Sharon's efforts to deal with the crisis in a strong and decisive fashion.
As reported by the Hill times, when Carolyn Parrish (Liberal MP) went to the Middle East with 8 acolytes, (funded by Palestine House) she felt this incredible urge to report to Bill Graham (Canada's Foreign Minister) and to the Canadian Parliament. When she went there as an invited guest by Israel, she never felt the urge to report to anyone about anything.
It is fascinating how Liberals are so adept at self-delusion when she states that "We're there as unbiased observers. Some of us may have Palestinian leanings, but I think the majority that are going sincerely want to observe some of the human rights violations happening on both sides, want to observe the status of food supplies, medical supplies, want to observe how difficult it is to go through checkpoints. So you see, there is nothing to fear. The trip is organized, planned, financed and accompanied by Palestinians but the outcome will be an unbiased, researched, well-founded report. MP's honour. But it gets better:
Ms. Parrish said she's been on two trips to the area. Her first trip was organized by the Canada-Israel Committee in 1996. Her second trip was as an EU observer of a Palestinian election. She said the difference between what she saw on the first trip and the second one was like "night and day."
Ms. Parrish described her first trip, saying: "We stayed in nice hotels, it really was a lovely trip. We didn't see any of the refugee camps, we didn't go over into East Jerusalem on that.
"When I went back to observe the election, I stayed in a hotel in East Jerusalem and I stayed in a convent in Bethlehem and travelled to Hebron, which was the most dangerous spot to be in and it was quite a different view of the country."

Where is Ms. Parrish's report about the so-called Palestinian farce election? About the fact that the only opponent candidate to Arafat was a hand-picked unknown woman and the fact the the entire media and electoral machine is controlled by Arafat in the first place? Where is the report that shows that any opponent to Arafat who favors peace with Israel eventually is given a free "tour" of the territories (dragged behind a car) usually after being shot as a collaborator?
Is anyone still being fooled by this pompous, self-righteous lady and her entourage? Read this report. It basically assigns all the blame onto Israel since the beginning of time, makes passing references to terrorist attacks for good measure but immediately excuses them by blaming the ongoing desperation for turning the poor suicide-bombers into victims.
I just hope that someone shows this lady's constituents the extent of this lady's lack of moral integrity so she can be sent away for a long time to the purgatory...or the senate where all Liberal hags usually end up.
